jon says: “When I first met jon he was suffering from poor balance, mobility and flexibility. His back and legs also ached chronically. These symptoms were the result of a spinal fusion he’d undergone following a car crash 15 years earlier. I worked in conjunction with a brilliant osteopath, Stephen Butcher, to devise a plan that would get richard mobile again without causing him further damage. The priority was to strengthen his lower torso, improve the flexibility in richard’s hips, which involved a lot of core stability work and stretching of the lower limbs. Motivation was a problem for richard in the beginning but as soon as he started to see some results he didn’t look back. It’s fair to say that the programme has prevented richard from living the life of a cripple. In fact, his lifestyle has improved ten fold.”

Richard says: “Before I started working with jon I could not stand up, sit down or tie a shoe lace without excruciating pain. I wasn’t the easiest student at the start but jon never gave up on me, for which I’m thankful. The fitness work means that I’m now able to stand and watch my sons playing football without feeling much discomfort, also long plane journeys are not as bad as they use to be, I’ve even been skiing! I now look forward to my sessions with jon because they’re making so much difference to my quality of life.”

Sahir Zubeh

jon says: “Sahir was an overweight schoolboy who admitted had trouble walking up the stairs due to his lack of health. His mother hired me to motivate and educate him about fitness. As soon Sahir and I started work, we agreed a short-term goal of him running a mile non stop within three weeks which he achieved. Before long he was running two miles without too much difficulty. Along the way I gave Sahir information about the value of exercise and how best to go about it. I also spent a lot of time listening to him without judging him. Additionally, I worked closely with this mother about diet and portion sizes. We trained for eleven months during which time Sahir was loosing weight. I was able to inspire and motivate him to continue on his own. His total weight loss after 18 months stands at just under three stone. As a result of our work together, Sahir now knows how to keep the weight off which has transformed his lifestyle and boosted his confidence and self esteem no end.”

Sahir says: “Training with jon was brilliant. I hated exercise before jon came along. Although it was hard work, jon knew how to make it fun! It was also really interesting learning about fitness. Giles King

Age: 16

jon says: “Giles says he is one of the best props for his age in his league. He came to me six months ago for rugby-specific strength and conditioning training relevant to his age and physical development. This has involved implementation of controlled and disciplined programme of weight training, plyometrics and core strengthening work. As a result, Giles has gained muscle mass, and is more explosive which is making him more effective on the field.”

I am a 48 year old family man who if the truth was known had let myself go with regard to fitness. In December 2006 I suffered a back injury, which resulted in me having to undergo spinal surgery i.e. a Disectomy in early January 2007. The Disectomy left me feeling very low and extremely incapacitated. As a result of the surgery I was left with severe numbness in my right leg, and a pronounced limp. I had to lay almost flat on my back for 6-8 weeks.

My surgeon recommended Physio to overcome my leg numbness and limp, which although a great help, was not going to improve my general fitness. In late August after consultation with my Surgeon I started Pilates, and whilst this was excellent, it was not going to improve my overall fitness. My Pilates teacher suggested a Personal Trainer, and recommended Jon.

I had an initial 1 hour consultation with Jon to discuss my situation and to get an understanding of what Jon thought he could do for me. Clearly with my back surgery and my poor fitness, i was going to be a challenge! Jon rose to that challenge.... how? by tailoring me a specific programme to firstly improve my cardiovascular along with posture exercises to strengthen front and back muscle groups followed by learning on how stretch properly to increase flexibility.

I have now been training for the past 2years once a week with Jon. My fitness levels have improved dramatically as well as strength and stability.
